Trailers 36 & 37

Of the 6 Trailers delivered in 1894 numbered 34 - 39, only 36 & 37 survive today, the others fell victim to the fire at Laxey Car Sheds in 1930. 36 spent a a lengthy period in storage at Laxey from the early 1970s until May 2002 when along with other withdrawn stock, it was transported to the former Homefield Bus Garage in Douglas for further storage. 36 received new wheels in 1965 and as can be seen from this view, despite years of disuse remains in good condition. A tentative proposal was made to Isle of Man Transport by the Manx Electric Railway Society with a view to mustering volounteers to return 36 to passenger service.

Sister trailer 37 sees occasional use and is shown here at Ramsey during 1993, looking pristine following its repainting by local members of the Manx Electric Railway Society. Considerable efforts were made to strip the pillars of layers of paint to restore them to their original varnished appearance.
